ARK Sunday School: Applewood Rainbow Kids

Our Sunday School is known as ARK:  Applewood Rainbow Kids! We are a vibrant and caring community, where all ages experience God’s presence.  Children are included in the first part of the worship service where there is a story time especially for them, after which they go to Sunday School. As an affirming congregation, we recognize and celebrate all different kinds of families!

CORE – our program for middle-school & up meets with Carolyn Smith, for challenging discussion, activities and hands-on fun. It is loosely related to our weekly youth group, so kids can be a part of Sundays or Thursdays alone, or both.

ARK – Applewood Rainbow Kids – Younger kids gather with Jennifer Linghorne our Children’s Sunday Staff person. We use a fantastic, faithful and fun curriculum called Sparkhouse, which includes art, music, cooking, science and videos. Sometimes we all get together for shared activities.

Both programs start together in the downstairs Youth group room. Often, the ARK kids remain in that room and the CORE group meets in the library upstairs, for Sunday activities.

Our ARK program on Sundays offers a younger group, Jr. Youth group and youth group, using Sparkhouse Curriculum to explore faith, learn about bible stories and feel God’s love in our lives. We have recently updated our spaces and programs, and we follow a Duty of Care policy to ensure safe and happy participation by all.

Appleseeds Choir
The Sunday School children (Primary and Junior divisions) are all part of the Choir. Why is music important to our Sunday School? The children have fun singing with others, learn songs about God and Jesus and share the songs in Sunday services including special music at Christmas and Easter. The children celebrate God’s love through their smiling faces and happy voices.
